The Sybil Green team consisting of Kayla Van De Ven, Tessa Jane McDonald, Janie Field, Clare Choi, Devon Henare, Ruby Jarvis, Vicky Turley & Irina Vlasov were looking to defend their Judy Pearson Trophy against Manawatu/Wanganui as well as looking to win the Sybil Green for 2023.

Saturday saw the team playing their Judy Pearson match against Manawtu/Wanganui in the morning. The team got off and running with a 6-2 win to defend their Judy Pearson Salver and put them in a great position in the standings going into the afternoon. Round 2 in the afternoon saw the team solidify their position atop the leaderboard with a solid 5.5-2.5 win against Taranaki. Manawatu/Wanganui meanwhile gave the team a helping hand by beating Wellington 5-3. This setup a showdown in the last round on Sunday between us and Wellington to see who would lift the trophy for 2023 with either a win or a half being good enough to take the trophy on a countback. After a hard fought battle against Wellington the teams came to a 4-4 draw which was a good enough results to take away the trophy.

Congratulations to the team for winning both the Judy Person Trophy & The Sybil Green Salver for 2023.

The Shand Cup saw the Men looking to go one better than last year and come away with the silverware for 2023. The team consisted of Tyson Tawera, Preston Tatana, Michael Trass, Jared McGillicuddy, Tuhourangi Wilson, Rueben Harris, Patrick Harold & Christian Walker.

Saturday saw the team play hosts Manawatu/Wanganui in round 1. The team got off to a hard fought 5-3 win to start. In round 2 in the afternoon saw the team have a tough afternoon against Taranki coming away with a loss 6-2 taking away any chance of taking the trophy for 2023. The last round on Sunday saw the team against frontrunners Wellington who only needed a win or a half to secure the trophy for 2023. Wellington were too strong for the team coming away with a solid victory 7.5-0.5 and take the trophy for 2023 seeing the team finish in 3rd.
