NZ Women's Interprovincial
The NZ Women’s Interprovincial was held at Akarana Golf Club between December 1st -5th. This was the last major tournament for the Women’s team looking to improve on last years 12th placing.
The team played 35 matches with a total 18 points won resulting in 3 team wins, 1 draw and 3 tight losses.
Round 1 saw the team against Northland 1st up in the morning with some very tight matches seeing the result being a 2.5-2.5 draw.
Round 2 saw the team against neighbors Manawatu/Wanganui. After a tight tussle Manawatu/Wanganui got the victory 3-2.
Round 3 saw the team take on Taranaki. The team played fantastically coming away with the win 4-1.
Round 4 saw the team against a very tough North Harbour team. North Harbour were just too strong winning 4.5-.5.
Round 5 saw a great battle against Waikato with the team Narrowly losing 3-2 with all the matches going long into the back nine.
Round 6 saw the team have their bye for the week with their last match in Round 7 against Tasman looking to finish on a winning note. The team came away with a very solid performance winning 4-1.
This saw the team sit tied for 6th with Wellington however on a countback of matches ended up playing off for 7th/8th against North Harbour. After a good battle the team narrowly lost 3-2 to finish in 8th place for 2020. A fantastic result for the team considering the uncertainty of if the events would be played this year.
