Men's & Women's NZ Inter Provincials

The final representative fixtures for the Men & Women took place down at Paraparaumu & Waikanae Golf Club from Monday 5th December through to Saturday 9th.

The Men got off to a 2.5-2.5 against Southland in round 1 followed up by a solid 3.5-1.5 win against a strong Canterbury team. Round 3 saw the team play against Auckland who were too strong coming away victors 0.5-4.5. Round 4 was their bye round. Round 5 was against Waikato after a tight battle both teams shared the spoils with a 2.5-2.5 draw. The team needed to win all their matches from there on to have slim chance at a Semi-Final berth. A 4-1 win against Aorangi in Round 6 got the team back on track but another draw in round 7 against North Harbour meant the team were 1 match point and 3 games away to finish in 3rd place in division two. Auckland continued their form from their Freyberg Masters win to also win the Men’s beating Bay of Plenty in the final.

The Women were looking to continue their form from the Sybil Green Salver. Unfrotunately their 1st round against Waikato didn’t go so well with a 4.5-0.5 loss. Round 2 saw the team get back on track with 3-2 win against Taranaki. Round 3 continued the winning form with a 3-2 win against Northland. Round 4 saw the team have their bye. Already confirmed a Semi Final spot in the divison it was just down to the last 2 rounds to see who they would play. With a win against Aorangi 3-2 and a loss against Otago it saw the team play against Waikato in the Semi Final. Unfortunately Waikato proved too strong for the team winning 4-1. Waikato won the division two final against Northland while Manawatu/Wanganui beat North Harbour in Division one.
