NZ Women's Masters 2021

After a very early start at Napier airport Thursday 8 April, the HB/PB Women’s Golf team of Kathy Olsen (Maraenui), Clare Choi (Maraenui), Aseri Meikle (Maraenui)  & Martha Manaena (Hastings) arrived in Whangarei to play in the NZ Women’s Masters over the next 4 days at the Northland Gold Club.

For the teams practice round on the Thursday, The teams secured the help of a local player named Tim who guided us around the course pointing out various pitfalls that the team would not have seen in the form of watery hazards, fairway slopes & hills & sloping greens which were at times hidden greens also, his input was very beneficial.

Formal play commenced Friday morning and the team overall struggled. The course was very hilly & the greens were very slick but very true but at times hard to get to. Saturday was a challenge due to rain & 36 holes to be played. But due to greens flooding & being unplayable play was called off after 9 holes & play abandoned with 75mm of rain falling that day & night, so the tournament was played over 36 holes rather than the usual 72 so sadly we finished 13 out of 14 teams.
